New Zealand is facing serious structural challenges in its commitment to the equitable delivery of health and wellbeing services to rural communities.
The Network through it’s rural student network, Students of Rural Health Aotearoa (SoRHA) is addressing the challenges by actively encouraging rural school pupils to consider and then pursue a careers in one of the many different disciplines our rural communities critically need. We call this our Rural Health Careers Promotion programme.
A significant part of this programme are the Rural School Visits which we organise throughout the year, taking tertiary students out to rural communities to engage with and inspire rural school pupils to pursue a health career and meet some amazing rural health professionals involved with their communities.
